Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest for Suspended License, Marijuana, and Stolen Firearm

Quincy, FL — The Quincy Police Department is announcing the arrest of a local man following a routine traffic stop that uncovered multiple violations and a stolen firearm. On the morning of August 7, 2024, at approximately 9:45 AM, officers from the Quincy Police Department conducted traffic enforcement on King Street. While monitoring traffic, Officers observed a red Acura sedan traveling at 41 mph in a 25-mph zone.

The vehicle, driven by Trenton Reed-Lewis, 20, of Quincy, stopped at the intersection of E King Street and N Madison Street. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers detected the odor of marijuana and observed drug-related paraphernalia in plain view. A subsequent check revealed that Reed-Lewis’s driver’s license was invalid. Reed-Lewis admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle and was detained for a search. During the search, officers recovered a black MP9 Smith and Wesson firearm, loaded with eight rounds. The firearm’s serial number was checked through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) and returned as stolen from Bainbridge, GA

Alongside the firearm, brightly colored packaging containing marijuana residue and a jar with marijuana crumbs were also found. The substance tested presumptively positive for marijuana. Reed-Lewis was arrested, handcuffed, and transported to the Gadsden County Jail without further incident. Renton Reed-Lewis was charged with driving with a suspended license (Florida Statute 322.34), and possession of drug paraphernalia (Florida Statute 893.147)
